Who we are
The paving side of AFL
AFL Driveways And Patios is the driveway, patio and landscaping work of AFL, a small Bristol team run by Finley. The business started in tree and garden care, and you will still find it on Facebook as AFL Tree & Garden Care. As more customers asked for patios and drives, the paving grew into the larger part of what we do.
That background shapes how we work. We are used to being in people’s gardens, to leaving them tidy, and to thinking about the lawn, the borders and the boundary as well as the paving. A new driveway or patio is finished when the ground around it is finished too.
You deal with the same people from the first visit to the last sweep-up. We look at the job ourselves, give you a free quote and advice, and tell you plainly what we would do if it were our own house.

How we work
What happens when you ask us for a driveway
We come and look
We measure the area, check the levels and where rain goes now, and ask how many cars the driveway has to take.
You get a free quote
A price for the work, with the surface, the edging and the drainage set out so you can see what is included.
Dig out and build the base
The old surface is lifted and the ground dug to depth. Stone goes down in layers, each one compacted, and the edges are fixed.
Lay the surface
Resin, tarmac or blocks go down on the finished base, with falls set so that water runs where it should.
Tidy up and hand over
Waste is taken away and the site swept. We walk round it with you and explain how to look after the new surface.

Every photo on this website is a job AFL has carried out, taken on site. Some show work part way through as well as finished, because the stages you cannot see at the end are the ones that matter most.
Most of the photos are patios. We would sooner show you those than borrow pictures of driveways we did not lay. Ask us about recent driveway work when we visit, and have a look at our Facebook page for more.

An old patio taken up and replaced with Indian sandstone, with the manhole covers infilled to match and a grey edging.
